About the Speaker

Amal Driouich, P.Eng., PMP, is a senior project leader with more than 20 years of experience managing complex engineering, manufacturing, and nuclear energy projects. She currently leads a major procurement and delivery program supporting Canada's first grid-scale Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project at Candu Energy Inc – AtkinsRéalis.

Throughout her career, Amal has navigated high-pressure environments, led multidisciplinary teams, and managed complex stakeholder relationships while delivering results in some of Canada's most demanding industries. Beyond her professional leadership roles, she is passionate about personal growth, leadership development, and effective communication. An active Toastmaster, Amal has advanced to the Division level of the Toastmasters International Speech Contest four times, demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.

Her journey has reinforced the power of resilience, self-confidence, and stepping outside one's comfort zone. Today, she enjoys sharing practical insights and strategies to help others manage stress, navigate difficult situations, and unlock their full potential, both personally and professionally.

CNL Whiteshell Laboratories Site Tour (Tuesday, October 06, 2026)

Join Women in Nuclear (WiN) Manitoba for an exclusive Nuclear Facility Tour of the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories' (CNL) Whiteshell Laboratories Restoration Project (WLRP).

Seeing the facilities, equipment, and programs involved in a major nuclear project?
Learning more about the historic operations of a nuclear research site?

With an area of 11,000 acres, the Whiteshell Laboratories site is a former nuclear research and test facility, and one of the biggest environmental restoration projects in Canada. We invite you to explore the campus and discover the impactful contributions of women working in this dynamic environment.

The Whiteshell Laboratories site tour will include guided tours of the Whiteshell Reactor 1 (WR-1), which played a key role in Canada's nuclear history, achieving criticality in 1965 and serving for 20 years as a research reactor that, among other missions, became a testing site for the CANDU fleet.

The tour will also take visitors to the Hot Cells, the Fire Hall, and an environmentally focused bus tour of the Main Campus and Waste Management Area.

Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with women working at the Whiteshell Laboratories site and Subject Matter Experts in the nuclear field. We welcome you to learn more about nuclear-related professions and to engage with the WiN Manitoba Leading Group for partnership opportunities.

WiN Durham Pickering Retube Feeder and Boiler Replacement (RFBR) Mock-Up Facility tour (Tuesday, October 13, 2026)

See the new Retube Feeder and Boiler Replacement (RFBR) Training and Mock-up Facility (TMF) at 221 Church Street, Pickering — a 200,000-square-foot hub preparing staff for the refurbishment of Pickering Nuclear Units 5 to 8, on track for completion December 2026.

The tour covers the north side's 100,000-square-foot training space, with full-scale reactor and component mock-ups, dynamic and static platforms replicating the reactor building, Steam Generator Boiler Bottom mock-ups, a welding shop, and classrooms — plus the south side's storage and warehouse space for refurbishment components.

CanAtom Power Group is outfitting the facility to closely mirror real refurbishment conditions, a key investment in workforce readiness for this major project.

5:15-6:00 – Re-convene, Q&A, closeout

We require attendees to bring their own PPE. Please let us know if you do not have the required PPE.
