Women in Nuclear Canada Mentorship Program 2026 (Tuesday, June 23, 2026)

Building on past success, Women in Nuclear Canada is pleased to be launching the 2026-2027 Mentorship Program! This year's cohort will include expert advice, new features, and enhanced ways to connect with your mentor/mentee and other participants.

The program will enable Women in Nuclear Canada members to achieve their professional development goals through a mentoring relationship. Members can participate as a mentee, mentor, or both. Mentors may take on more than one mentee if desired. The program will be facilitated through MentorCity, an online mentoring platform that helps you track your progress, manage your mentoring relationship, and even host virtual mentoring meetings.

Key Dates

Mentor and Mentee registration and building of profiles on online platform - June 23rd, 2026 to August 5th, 2026
Self-directed matching process and confirmation of mentoring relationships – August

Fee for Program

Includes access to online platform for the duration of the Mentoring Program

Mentors: FREE
Mentees*: $150 + HST
- Mentees may also participate as a mentor if desired. Only individuals wishing to serve exclusively as a mentor can participate free of charge

Students: $50 + HST (maximum 50 students)

*Mentees are limited to a maximum of one mentor, and mentors can have two mentees. This was determined to improve the quality of the relationship and experiences created.

WiN GHW:DIY Cookie Class and Networking Social (Thursday, August 06, 2026)

Join us on August 6th in Oakville for a relaxed, creative, and delicious networking social! We’ll be gathering at Knox Presbyterian Church (89 Dunn Street, Oakville) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for a hands-on DIY Cookie Decorating Class—a perfect way to connect, unwind, and try something new.

Cost: $35.00 per person (plus HST)

Your DIY Cookie Class Includes:

Individually packaged, ready-to-decorate cookies
Light refreshments
Coffee & Tea

Whether you're a seasoned decorator or trying it for the first time, this fun and informal session is a great opportunity to meet members from across the Golden Horseshoe West Chapter while tapping into your creativity. We hope to see you there!

A Special Contribution from Sugar Hill Cookies

We’re excited to share that Sugar Hill Cookies, led by owner Diana, will be donating 100% of the proceeds from this DIY Cookie Class to two meaningful initiatives in Halton:

Free culinary drop‑in programs supporting children and youth across Halton
SAVIS of Halton, a local women’s charity providing support, counselling, and services for survivors

Your participation directly supports these programs and helps strengthen our local community.

WiN GHW "Nine and Dine" Golf Event (Sunday, September 13, 2026)

WiN GHW "Nine and Dine" Golf Event

Join the WiN Golden Horseshoe West (GHW) chapter at our "nine and dine" golf event. We'll start with a golf lesson, enjoy a light dinner, and play nine holes at the beautiful Hidden Lake Golf Course. All skill levels (including beginners) are welcome at this networking event!

Date: Sunday, Sept 13, 2026

Location: Hidden Lake Golf Courses (1137 1 Side Road, Burlington)

Cost: $37.50 + tax for 9 holes/per person (includes golf lesson, dinner buffet, and golf)

$18.00 for power cart

Golf Ontario will provide golf clubs for those that don't have them. Please indicate on your registration if you need a left-handed or right-handed set. There is no charge

$22.50-$32.50 for rental clubs from Hidden Lake (higher cost for premium). There are a limited number of ladies sets available. Please contact the clubhouse to book in advance.

Event schedule:

2:00pm - 3:00pm Lessons: Driving, Chipping & Putting Stations

3:00pm - 4:30pm. Networking & Early Dinner

4:45pm First foursome tees off (Finished by 7:00pm)

6:00pm. Last foursome tees off (Finished by 8:15pm)

Golf - 9 holes best ball out of 4; everyone hits

Pace of Play Standards are 2 hrs. 15mins max to play 9 holes

It is recommended that each two-some take a power cart to maintain pace of play standards.

Spaces are limited to only 30 people for this event. The deadline to register is August 29 to secure your spot. Please indicate your golfing level on your registration form.

WiN Durham Golf & Social (Thursday, September 17, 2026)

Join Members of the WiN-Durham Chapter Executive, other Chapter Members and their families and friends on Thursday September 17, 2026 for an afternoon of golfing, networking, dinner, and prizes at Whispering Ridge Golf Course.

Non-Golfers are welcome to come learn how to play and enjoy this event!!!

Event schedule:

3:00pm - Registration/Check-in opens
3:15pm - Golf Clinic starts on the Range
4:00pm - Golf starts (9 holes, best ball format or 2 hours)
6:00pm - BBQ Dinner and Prizes at the Clubhouse

Event notes:

Golfers will be assigned to a team of 4
Teams will be a mix of new and experienced golfers
Each Golfer may choose one (1) person to pair with for the event (i.e. no 4 person team entries will be permitted)
Golf Ontario will be providing Loaner Golf Clubs along with Clinic and Event support!

Registration cost: $60.25 per person

Registration includes: Loaner golf clubs (if needed), Clinic, 9 holes of golf with cart, and a BBQ dinner

EmPOWERed Women: Taking the Stage is a program that enables women to view leadership through the lens of communication – supporting them to develop the skills needed to be seen as strong, confident leaders. EmPOWERed Women achieves this by addressing fundamental communication habits that often reduce women’s ability to come across as influential leaders in their organizations. In this program participants will learn how to communicate effectively and discover how to adopt an empowered mindset, speak with clarity and intention, unlock the power of their voice, and achieve a confident and authentic presence. Women In Nuclear Canada is pleased to offer this specific cohort as an in-person experience. Group sizes are capped at a 12:2 participant to instructor ratio to ensure ample individual feedback and opportunities for social learning. Participants will leave this program with skills they have already had a chance to apply, test, and receive feedback on over the course of the experience.

Join Women in Nuclear (WiN) Manitoba for an exclusive Nuclear Facility Tour of the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories' (CNL) Whiteshell Laboratories Restoration Project (WLRP).

Are you or your organization interested in:

A career in the nuclear field and in learning more about nuclear professions?
Seeing the facilities, equipment, and programs involved in a major nuclear project?
Learning more about the historic operations of a nuclear research site?

With an area of 11,000 acres, the Whiteshell Laboratories site is a former nuclear research and test facility, and one of the biggest environmental restoration projects in Canada. We invite you to explore the campus and discover the impactful contributions of women working in this dynamic environment.

The Whiteshell Laboratories site tour will include guided tours of the Whiteshell Reactor 1 (WR-1), which played a key role in Canada's nuclear history, achieving criticality in 1965 and serving for 20 years as a research reactor that, among other missions, became a testing site for the CANDU fleet.

The tour will also take visitors to the Hot Cells, the Fire Hall, and an environmentally focused bus tour of the Main Campus and Waste Management Area.

Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with women working at the Whiteshell Laboratories site and Subject Matter Experts in the nuclear field. We welcome you to learn more about nuclear-related professions and to engage with the WiN Manitoba Leading Group for partnership opportunities.
